| Die Young As Late As Possible |
What is Nutrition?
Nutrition is the study of how food and drink affects our bodies with a special regard to the essential nutrients necessary to support human health. It looks at the physiological and biochemical processes involved in nourishment and how substances in food provide energy or are converted into body tissues. These nutrients which are the source of energy for our bodies are classed as: carbohydrates, fats, fibre, minerals, proteins, vitamins, and water. Good nutrition means obtaining the right amount of nutrients from healthy foods in the right combinations. An important part of the study of nutrition is looking at the diseases that can result from malnutrition and the role food plays in the development of chronic disease.

I will add my translation: It slows the general aging process, increases athletic and general fitness performance through rapid repair, recovery and damage reversal. Sustains brain power, cellular systems, the heart, arteries and vessels, bones, eyes, skin, hair, nails, assists in better sleep and of course taking the fight to anxiety, depression, and chronic disease. In short, nutrition brings balance; so die young- as late as possible.

When The Problems Begin
The point at which a person recognizes they may be experiencing a weight management and health problem is usually an unexpected moment. They can no longer perform basic tasks or basic fitness level programs with ease. They may see themselves in a picture or suddenly realize they have a closet full of clothing they can no longer get themselves comfortably into. For some it might be an upcoming social event and they want to look their best, while others may be participating in a competitive event whether on a stage or in an arena and even outside battling against the trail or obstacle course, the elements and aggressive competition. Whatever the individual case may be, that person suddenly see’s the reality of where they are verses where they know they should be, for their particular body image or desire and for their general health.
What Is The Usual Reaction
With so many competing fads and gimmicky lose weight fast marketing offers, it is difficult to sort the bad, from the good and the dangerous. The mind has a systematic process of filtering out things that mean nothing to perceived interests. You can see this played out in our computer search habits, we are bombarded by advertisements based upon our needs, wants and desire interests- do a single search for weight loss and the next day you will have a wall of weight loss ads promising extraordinary result virtually overnight. This kind of enticement to a person wanting immediate answers and solutions can be powerful and very persuasive- but can also be very wrong.
Where Are The Solutions Found
Lets talk Plant Based Nutrition and Diet. In my research and study, I have discovered there is a higher rate, a longer term and a healthier outcome with a Whole Foods Plant Based Diet approach. When people ask me about weight management, ironically I say that WEIGHT is really not the focus for me, unless it is a competitive performance factor. What I like to suggest to a person is that we must change our focus away from the scale and become fixated more upon habits and environment. Weight lose (body fat) is a challenging process, and each person loses at a different rate- this can of course create frustration when a person is not experiencing the same results as another person. What I like to tell a person is to focus upon and track behavior changes. Behavior is something a person is in more control of, a person is not in control of how quickly they can lose weight on a scale. By focusing upon habits and behaviors you have something tangible you can manage. Behavioral changes is the better long term strategy than to rely upon sheer will power alone, the idea I will just deny myself and grind through the latest fade diet to arrive on the scene, as expected most people fail- because we are human.
Change your environment, get a strategic plan:
- Remove and change the foods you have in your home
- If you have a partner ask them to invest in you and your journey by supporting your habit refocus
- Changing your routine ( Avoid those areas that entice you, the office snack lounge or location on your travels).
Now lets look at a few Myths and Approaches…
